Date night at Applebees was a really wonderful way for my hubby Shawn and I to steal some alone time.  We’ve had so many awesome fun filled events over the last few months, but have rarely had alone adult only time, so when this opportunity came up it was great timing.  We’ve enjoyed going to Applebee’s on many occasions.  Applebee’s is our go-to neighborhood restaurant.

While the manager knew I was coming in to do a review, the staff didn’t.  When we walked up to the front doors of the establishment, one of the Applebee’s team opened the door, held it open and warmly welcomed us.  As we walked toward the check-in desk a second team member smiled and greeted us in the same friendly manner.  I have to say, with all the hustle and bustle of the work week, their smiles and warm greetings really set the tone for our evening.

We were so impressed that I tweeted this out to them:

Dinner was delicious, I had their sirlon steak on my mind all day, and was happy to have ordered the Shrimp and Parmesan Sirlion.  What a flavor this steak had, so juicy and the parmesan sauce and shrimp totally complimented the steak.

According to Applebee’s Long Island director of operations, Kurt Pahlitzsch,“Our new wood-fired grill is the cornerstone of our elevated dining experience and we’re excited for our guests to come in and try our delicious new wood-fired steak options. Our chefs are newly trained to ensure the optimal cut and preparation of each and every one of our Hand-Cut Wood Fired Steak dinners.  I say BRAVO to all the chefs!

Shawn decided to have a bone-in Pork Chop with Honey Apple Chutney.  This was a cajun-seasoned 10 oz Canadian farm rased pork chop, apple chutney, and maple butter.  All those flavors together equal yum in the mouth!

Our server Lorianne was so pleasant, she made sure we had everything we needed, and our food was cooked just right. There’s nothing like having the opportunity to catch up and slow down for a bit over a good meal.  I couldn’t believe it was so late when we finished our dinner.  There was no room for dessert as we were stuffed.

After a fabulous dinner, we headed out to meet my sister and her fiance to celebrate her birthday at karaoke.  So date night continued and we sang a couple of duets together and of course my BFF hubby sang our wedding song Recipe for Love by Harry Connick Jr. to me.  No better way to spend an evening in my opinion.

So do you need a date night?  I’ve got a great giveaway coming soon to get your date night started off right at Applebee’s.

So the big question is:  What would you order for dinner?

  • 8 oz. and 6 oz. Hand-cut USDA Choice Top Sirloin Steaks
  • Hand-cut Bone-in Pork Chop with Honey Apple Chutney
