Traveling 2015

Yep, that’s what I’ve been doing and planning on doing so much of this year traveling!  I had envisioned this as a New Year’s post and here it is April!  The first quarter of the year has flown by already and the fun is well underway!

Each January for the past couple of years I have the privilege and honor of donning New York Yankees Pinstripes and calling myself one of the Bambinos!  Being at New York Yankees Fantasy Camp in Tampa playing on Stienbrenner field under a sunny blue sky is a great way to celebrate my birthday month, my love for baseball, The Yankees and to me for me love me–yes me time!!

Before you know it I was back at home to lots of hugs and kisses and then the count down began to our much loved and always anticipated Adoption Reunion at the East Hill Farm!  Getting together with all the families that we traveled to China with all those years ago.  Watching this group of girls now all beautiful young ladies get together just makes my heart happy!  This is a very special group of people that we consider our special extended family.  Kristen calls them her sisters as does her little brother, who they’ve taken into the fold.  We celebrate Chinese New Year and just really enjoy everyone’s company for a long weekend in a relaxed atmosphere.  We’ve been going to the East Hill farm each year on the same weekend for the last fourteen years.  The owners love our girls too.  So much so that they will be having a “sweet 16” for the girls next year when we are up there!

February this year brought a milestone birthday for my Mom.  70!!! WOOT WOOT!! Happy Birthday Mom! And to celebrate we decided to take a girls little trip to Florida to some sun and fun.  My Mom, my Aunt Peg, my sister Lina and I called ourselves the U-Turn girls-because no matter where we went in our rental car, there were plenty of U-turns.  The only thing that was more frequent then the u-turns were the laughs!! There were plenty of those for sure.

While Mom’s Birthday trip was awesome-it was way too short and we found ourselves back in New York, just bearly beating out another blizzard! GRRRRR!  We just had to get back, because for Christmas, I bought the family Maroon 5 Tickets!

Sean Eddie and I LOVE Maroon 5 and this would be his very first concert!  We ended up taking the Long Island Railroad into Penn Station and seeing the show!  He got his first concert tee and we all loved hearing Adam Levine (yea I have a bit of a crush on him) and the boys sing their hearts out for nearly two hours.

Next we were off on our long awaited but finally coordinated Girl Scout road trip to Washington D.C. of course having to beat ANOTHER snow storm for safety’s sake, we took the girls out of school early and drove down in our mini-van.  While it was raw and cold on Friday, the rest of the weekend we enjoyed weather in the high 40’s low 50’s downright balmy after what we’ve been having here!  We walked and walked and walked!! Nine miles in one day-a record!

I’m looking forward to writing more about each of these trips and adventures, I just don’t know where the time seems to go!

We have so much to look forward to in the coming year too! Some BIG BIG trips!  Can’t wait to join Kaitlyn in her adventure “down under” as she has been accepted to the student teaching program in Brisbane, Australia and we get to take a two week vacation touring the country.

I’m little nervous about swimming in the Great Barrier Reef, after being such a fan of Discovery’s Shark Week all these years, but I’ve been assured, I will be okay!

Right on the heels of that trip, I get to take Kristen to China for a homeland tour for her Sweet 16!  We will travel through-out the country, visiting her birth country, climbing the Great Wall, exploring the Forbidden City, holding a panda bear cub!

Hans Christian Anderson said it best, “To travel is to live”.  So to me its all about experiences and sharing them with people you love!  And that’s exactly what I’m doing! Living life and life is good!
