Applebees is our go to neighborhood restaurant.

When the PR rep for Applebees contacted me to ask if we’d like a nice break from our very busy schedule to invite us to try the new exciting Season’s Best Flavors menu it was a no brainer and I wouldn’t have to worry about what’s for dinner- we were in!

Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar

We arrived at our appointed time and were warmly greeted and shown to our booth.  There we met Sulthon the manager on duty, who explained all the flavorful dishes we would be trying.

I have to say, we opened ourselves up to new flavors and items we may not have ordered without this great experience.  Sulthon started us off with grilled chicken wonton tacos.

Zesty Chicken Wonton Tacos

Zesty grilled chicken was stuffed into crispy wonton shells.  Then crunchy slaw is added for taste and color plus a dash of fresh cilantro.  Our waitress LoriAnn advised us to squeeze the fresh lime over the tacos for added zing.  She was right on the money, I wasn’t sure I’d even like this appetizer and turns out it was delicious!

We were then treated to The Grilled Vidalia Onion Sirloin which my hubby Shawn was very excited about.

Applebee's Steak

Yes he shared, but we let him eat most of it and you can see he was a very happy camper doing so!

The grilled Vidalia Onion Sirloin was seven ounces of tender steak topped with sweet Vidalia onion slices that’s grilled and caramelized.  This is accompanied by really garlicky spinach (YUM) and a smashed red-skinned potatoes.

Applebee's strawberry and avocado salad

Strawberry and Avocado Salad is Weight Watchers-endorsed and was only 480 calories.  Strawberry slices, fresh arugula and romaine is tossed in a chili line vinigrette.  Fire-grilled chicken breast on top along with fresh hand-cut avocado chunks add a creamy complement to the zesty dressing.  Sulthon explained that all the Weight Watchers meals are carefully weighted each and every day.  There are five hours of prep time to ensure that all the dishes are exactly to specifics so the point system is accurate.

As per Suthon he assured us that we would love a guest favorite and brought out the Margarita Queso Chicken & Shrimp.  Chipotle lime shrimp and grilled chicken in a cilantro lime glaze, then served over a flavorful combo of Mexican rice, white queso, corn and black beans. Topped with fresh avocado, cilantro and lime.

Sulthon was right.  We did love it!

The next dish we tried was the Chicken Freshcado another dish endorsed by Weight Watchers.

Fire-grilled whole chicken breast.  Loaded with avocado, pineapple, peppers, onions, zucchini and cucumbers served with white rice.  All this for only 440 calories.  Another great dish for sure.

While Sean Eddie didn’t venture into trying the new flavors of the season, he was VERY happy with his chicken fingers and french fries.  He wanted me to tell readers that they tasted perfect!

And don’t think we were done here!  Dessert was yet to be served.

Salt Caramel Pretzel Bites.  Soft pretzel bites, cinnamon sugar and slated caramel drizzle with creamy maple dipping sauce.  Kristen polished off most of this dish! Big thumbs up from her!  And we all enjoyed the Butter Pecan Blondie.  Baked with nuts, topped with dark and white chocolate. Served with vanilla ice-cream and hot fudge.

We had a great experience at Applebees, really enjoyed all the food and will be going back again in the near future as Applebees is our go-to neighborhood restaurant now. As they say at Applebees: See you tomorrow!

Make sure that you check back soon as My Best of Both Worlds will be giving one lucky reader dinner for two at Applebees.  What will you be ordering?
