Stinking thinking

If you haven’t already surmised from the title of Bill King’s book Stinkin’ Thinkin’ Stinks his message is pretty clear.  How you think affects how you feel.  Change how you think and change how you feel!

If you are a regular reader, you know that here at My Best of Both Worlds we are a family that enjoys reading aloud.  This book was no exception.  After dinner each night, we’d continue to sit at the table as I read aloud to my five and a half-year old son and fourteen year old daughter.  While the tools and concepts were certainly more targeted towards my daughter’s age group, the insights were not lost on him either.

There are some fun and easy exercises to help kids determine if their Thinkin is Stinkin and to help them track why it happens, what triggers it and how to avoid it in the future.  Bill King also is realistic enough to bring the message to readers that everyone has days that negative thoughts happen, but to be cautious about having it become a pattern.  In addition to patterns he helps kids determine if their friends and family help them support a positive way of thinking.

Bill King is a writer, speaker, certified trainer and mentor according to his About the Author.  He has a website www.idontstink.com.  You can sign up for FA-Free daily emails too which is a newsletter designed for kids called the STINK TANK!.  It has features that include The STINK of the Month, STINKIN’ Cool Dudes, SMELLIN’ Salts, SWEET scents, SA-SWEET Sayings, STINKISMS  (my favorite) positive quotes with a twist!
