Smashburger Sizzles!  My Best of Both Worlds was invited to attend the official media pre-opening preview of Smashburger on October 17.  The event was a tasting format – so we got to sample a little bit of everything on the menu. I attended with a friend of mine Mary Ellen and we ran into the Valley Stream Mom and fellow blogger Kim Thomas and her friend Felicia.  So we exchanged introductions and sat together as our feast and info session began.

Having never eaten at a Smashburger before I didn’t know what to expect and boy were we in for a culinary treat.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY (October 10, 2013) — Smashburger, the nation’s fastest growing “better burger” concept, expands its footprint in Nassau County with the opening of its newest restaurant located at 1600 Marcus Avenue, New Hyde Park, on Friday, October 18, 2013.  Owned and operated by ISK Systems LLC, Smashburger brings its juicy burgers that are smashed fresh, served delicious, along with its Haagen-Dazs® shakes, tempting sides and regional menu items crafted to please local’s palates.  The company has hired 50 local team members to staff its new location.

We got to taste all of the sides and I even tried fried pickles and I’m not a pickle person.  As a matter of fact it was my first pickle chip ever-and it was quite tasty!

Smashburger will feature a regional menu created with regional flavors and tastes in mind.  Its menu includes the New Yorker: New York cheddar, garlic grilled onions, spinach, tomato and a peppercorn garlic aioli on a brioche bun, and other favorites like the Classic Smash™ Burger: American cheese, smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion on an egg bun, Avocado Club Chicken Sandwich: fresh avocado, applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing and mayo on a multi-grain bun, its Smashfries®: fries tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic and much more.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of our New Hyde Park location,” said Irwin S. Kruger, owner, ISK Systems.  “When I was first introduced to Smashburger in 2010, I recognized the great potential of the concept due to its great burgers and extensive menu variety.  We look forward to expanding our footprint and bringing Smashburger’s unique burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads to this new area on Long Island.”

ISK Systems currently owns and operates Smashburger locations in Hicksville, Port Washington and Wantagh.  The company plans to open 20 restaurants across Long Island at a rate of three locations per year.

At Smashburger, the secret is in the smash.  It starts with 100-percent—fresh, never frozen, Angus Beef and is smashed on a 400 degree flat grill to sear in the juicy flavor. To further the “better burger” experience, the delicious burgers are served on toasted artisan buns and topped with a selection of the freshest produce, real cheeses and highest-quality condiments.

We even got to go behind the scenes and see the smashing up close and personal!  It was gret to see how they smashed the burger, seasoned it and made it order.  Love to see how things are made, learn something new everyday.

I am now a fan of Smashburger and will be bringing the family by to try it out.  Everything was great, but if I had to pick my favorite burger was the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger.
