Mommy, this is the BEST DAY EVER!

“Mommy, this is the BEST DAY EVER!”  My five year old’s outlook is one of pure joy and exuberance. Of course he has his moments that I find challenging- like when I have to ask my four famous questions.  However lately, there has been less difficulities and more happiness.  I was contemplating about how easily he can be made happy.  Sean Eddie’s mantra of Mommy, this is the best day ever has been used quite often this summer.  Events that fell into this category included Pre-K graduation, our annual Fourth of July BBQ / Pool Party, our recent trip to Sesame Place, Little League Trophy Day, having pizza for dinner, getting to have a sleepover on the boat with just Daddy, getting a new lunch bag and markers for school.

Pre-K graduation a BEST DAY EVER

Sesame Place another BEST DAY EVER

Trophy Day another Best Day Ever!

Honestly, I can keep going and going with this list, there are so many other ordinary moments that my son finds extraordinary.  I am blessed to finally be able to slow down enough to recognize the magic in these moments.  As I grow older and hopefully wiser, as a Mom, I am increasingly humbled as I watch all three of my children grow into wonderful individual persons.   This is a great joy for me.

To talk about resolutions in July, while New Year’s Eve seems so far away may seem somewhat silly, but I am endeavoring to make a slight adjustment to my attitude.  I usually maintain a positive outlook, but the more I got to thinking about how easy it is for my son to string together Best Day Ever days, I thought this could work for me too.  While I may not go skipping around our living room, or down the street I will continue to look for the good in my interactions with others, especially my family.
