Wrapping Christmas presents

Wrapping Christmas presents is one of my least favorite things to do in the days leading up to Christmas.  With all the things that we do to make our Christmas season full of tradition like making chocolate for our friends and family, decorating the house with nutcrackers, plus all the shopping and updating the spreadsheet for the Christmas nativity pieces, there are only so many hours in a day.  So I few years ago, I came to realization that I don’t have to do it.  So maybe you are wondering – well do her kids just get unwrapped presents and toys under the tree?  Or does she stick everything in Christmas gift bags?  (Although I did do that one year).

Nope I did something even better!!! I delegated the job of wrapping Christmas presents to my DH.  BTW – DH in this case stands for darling husband.  When I’m upset with him it stands for other things-but for purposes of this posting-it’s darling hubby!!

I sort the gifts by child and label a huge shopping bag or bags with each of the their names and then he is on his own.  I make sure that he has special Santa ONLY wrapping paper.  But other than that he’s good to go.  He has lots of tape and his special scissors (and don’t use them and not put them back where they belong as this makes him say Bah Humbug!)

He is actually very talented in wrapping Christmas presents, I think this is because he is somewhat of a perfectionist, having precision folds and corners.  So all the gifts look especially pretty.

My DH is one of “those people” that actually unwrap a present in an excruciatingly slow fashion NOT RIPPING THE PAPER-but alas we are veering off topic.  As for me I have no patience for that especially knowing how the kids will tear through the paper to get to what’s inside, not being at all concerned with how nicely the gift is wrapped.

With Christmas just a week away, how does the division of labor work in your house?  Who shops and who wraps?
