Having a Boy is SO Different

August 23, 2012 in Best of Both, boys

So My Best of Both Worlds means many things to me—today My Best of Both Worlds has me thinking about how having a boy is SO different after having my two girls that it sometimes blows my mind!!!

I mean for instance—I RODE A CAMEL at the Bronx Zoo with my son!  This is something I NEVER thought I would do.  Yet I now have pictures and would tell just about anyone who would listen that I rode a camel today with my son.  This has now topped the list of things I thought I would never be doing.

Over dinner last night, my mother was telling me how shocked and amazed she was to see my mobile upload to Facebook of the picture of Sean Eddie and I on the camel.  She said she would have bet that I would have never done that –not in a million years, since I was 8 years old I thought they were smelly and wanted nothing to do with even going near the camels whenever we visited the zoo.

I just couldn’t say no when my son asked me to go on with him.  I asked Kristen if she wanted to go on the ride and was not surprised by her quick refusal and her comment of “Mom are you really going to take him on the camel?!?”

Other things that I’ve done that are on the list of “I can’t believe I did this” are mostly having to do with different types of bugs, snails, frogs and other things that make me want to wash my hands immediately following the interaction.  Having girls took me to the local nail salons, while having a boy takes me to the nearest mud puddle or rock to turn over .  While it’s kinda of scary and often times slimy—it’s also freeing to some extent.  So I have to thank my son for expanding my world.
